Ļć½¶Ö±²„announces June date for history, genealogy program

STARKVILLE, Miss.āFor the third consecutive year, Ļć½¶Ö±²„ Libraries are sponsoring the E. O. Templeton Jr. History and Genealogy Fair.
Open to all, the popular event takes place 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 4 at Mitchell Memorial Library, the 138-year-old land-grant institutionās primary academic and research repository.Ā

This yearās featured speakers include:
āShirley Hanshaw, an Ļć½¶Ö±²„associate professor of English;
āHellen Polk, a retired Starkville educator representing the Mississippi Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; and
āChuck Yarborough of Columbus, a social sciences faculty member at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science and director of the cityās annual Friendship Cemetery āTales from the Cryptā program.
Also scheduled are two hands-on workshops led by Ļć½¶Ö±²„manuscript specialists. Senior associate DeeDee Baldwin will provide a beginner-level guide for online research, while coordinator Jennifer McGillan and special guest Betty Templeton of Starkville teach an advanced class on decoding family stories.
Exhibits by local genealogical clubs and societies will be on display, and tours of Mitchell Memorial exhibitions and the Special Collections department will be available.
