Ļć½¶Ö±²„among universities in two states impacted by bomb threats

STARKVILLE, Miss.āMississippi State leaders said a Thursday [July 28] bomb threat that caused the university to evacuate its Cullis Wade Depot and Bost Extension Center was one of numerous false alarms received by universities, colleges and community colleges this week.
Ļć½¶Ö±²„returned to normal operations after a diligent search by Ļć½¶Ö±²„Police, including canine assets, yielded an āall clear.ā
āWhile incidents of this nature are the subject of frequent Ļć½¶Ö±²„Crisis Action Team training and drills, I am extremely grateful for the prompt and professional actions of MSUās first responders today,ā said Ļć½¶Ö±²„President Mark E. Keenum. āThey work hard every day to keep our students, faculty, staff and visitors safe, and I am proud of them.ā
Similar threats also were made Thursday against other Mississippi universities and community colleges, including Alcorn State Universityās Natchez campus, William Carey Universityās Tradition campus, Hinds Community Collegeās Nursing and Allied Health Center, Itawamba Community Collegeās Tupelo campus, Meridian Community College and three Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College campuses.Ā
Thirteen Alabama university and community college campusesāincluding Auburn University, the University of Alabama at Huntsville and the University of South Alabamaāreceived similar threats Wednesday.Ā
Campuses in both states were eventually cleared without incident.Ā
