Established in 2021, the scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate with a strong academic record, demonstrated passion for weather science and a minimum 3.0 GPA. It provides financial support, professional mentorship and a 2026 internship opportunity with FOX Weather, FOX News Media’s free weather streaming service.

Stewart, of North Fayette, Alabama, is majoring in geosciences with a concentration in professional meteorology and an emphasis in broadcast meteorology, along with a minor in communication. She is a member of East Mississippi’s chapter of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society and was named its Member of the Year in 2024.

ā€œBeing chosen as the recipient of the FOX Weather Scholarship is such a dream come true,ā€ Stewart said. ā€œI am so grateful to have the opportunity to be mentored by such wise and inspirational professionals, and I am eager to grow my knowledge of meteorology. This internship is such an honor, and I am so excited for what is to come.ā€

At Fox Weather, Stewart will be mentored by Meteorologist Steve Bender. Her early experience in the field includes shadowing WVTM-TV Chief Meteorologist Jason Simpson at the NBC affiliate’s studios in Birmingham, Alabama.
