STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥斚憬吨辈 President Mark E. Keenum today [Oct. 23] announced additional gameday safety enhancements to build on those previously made public before the 2025 football season.
鈥淚n light of the recent gameday-related tragedies at several Mississippi high schools and colleges, I am pleased that our fans and visitors have positively received the 2025 gameday policies we implemented at the start of this season,鈥 said Keenum. 鈥淚 commend the Special Events and Gameday Committee and 香蕉直播Athletics for their foresight in enhancing our gameday experiences with an eye toward increased safety. The safety of our students, fans, visitors and staff remains our highest priority.鈥
Keenum said university leaders including the Crisis Action Team, the Special Events and Gameday Committee and 香蕉直播Emergency Management this week met with law enforcement officials representing the 香蕉直播Police Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Starkville Police Department and the Oktibbeha County Sheriff鈥檚 Office to implement increased safety measures beginning with this weekend鈥檚 Texas game, including additional surveillance cameras, additional security presence and increased internal monitoring and checkpoints.
香蕉直播Vice President for Strategic Communications Sid Salter, who also chairs the university鈥檚 Special Events and Gameday Committee, emphasized that a key part of maintaining safety at the venue is active involvement from 香蕉直播fans and staff. 鈥淚t鈥檚 important that all of us work together in following our existing safety policies, and perhaps most importantly, if you see something, say something,鈥 said Salter. 鈥淔ans, visitors and staff are encouraged to share information with law enforcement by calling or texting 662-325-2121 or calling 911.鈥
鈥淭he university remains extremely grateful to our own law enforcement officers and those from Starkville and Oktibbeha County, in addition to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety,鈥 said Salter. 鈥淭hese agencies work hard to help keep us all safe.鈥
Gameday patrons are reminded that weapons of any kind beyond controlled access points are strictly prohibited. Fans are encouraged to carry a valid photo ID, fully cooperate with law enforcement and security personnel, and observe clear bag policies to help ensure a safe and enjoyable gameday experience.
