STARKVILLE, Miss.βΟγ½ΆΦ±²₯ Libraries is celebrating a newly renovated, student-focused space designed to support collaboration, studying and community.
The Commons at Mitchell Memorial Library welcomed students with a ribbon cutting today [Jan. 29] and a reception on the libraryβs second floor, inviting attendees to explore expanded seating, updated furniture, enhanced study areas and improved computer access. The event highlighted Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯Librariesβ continued commitment to creating modern spaces that meet evolving academic needs.
βThe Commons reflects how todayβs students learn, collaborate and create. By redesigning this space, Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯Libraries is providing an environment that supports both focused study and the networked tools students need to be successfulβfrom printing and technology access to flexible, welcoming spaces that encourage collaboration,β said Dean of Libraries Lis Pankl.
The Commons is one of Mitchell Memorial Libraryβs most popular student destinations, and the renovation expands its capacity to serve a growing campus population while reinforcing the libraryβs role as a central hub for academic support, technology access and collaborative learning. New furniture and flexible layouts allow students to move seamlessly between individual study and group collaboration, while upgraded technology enhances access to digital tools and academic resources.
βOne exciting addition still to come is the planned P.O.D. Market in the Commons with our Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯Dining Services partner Aramark,β said Assistant Dean for Technology and Operations Paul Huddleston. βWeβre looking forward to this coming soon.β
