Giddy Up

Spring has sprung on Mississippi State’s South Farm as new foals soak in the sunshine and snuggle close to mom. This foal named Stevie—namesake of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Nicks—doesn’t stray far from her mother C.D. Savannalena. The two, and about 80 other horses, are part of the university’s Equine Unit, a research facility of MSU’s Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station. During the academic year, the facility also is a teaching facility where agriculture interns, student workers and laboratory assistants, along with equestrian team members and veterinary students learn from Ï㽶ֱ²¥scientists, faculty and staff.
